| Jharkhand: 16 people sentenced to jail for conversion |
Ranchi: 16 people were arrested and sent to jail on charges of attempt to convert by giving bribe to the flower hilly village under Shikaripada police station of Dumma district sub-district of Jharkhand. Among the arrested people, 7 women are also included. All the accused were sent to jail after registering an FIR under Section 295 (A) / 34 of the IPC and section 4 of the Jharkhand Dharma Independent Act. The complainant Ramesh Murmu has alleged that all the accused arrested in the village were refusing to go to the Santhal tribals to accept Christianity and apply mike to 'Jarethan (place of worship of Santhals'). The villagers kept the accused in the village only overnight and informed the police on Friday the second day.
All the accused were sent to jail on Saturday. According to the information, the villagers took hostages to the missionaries who came to spread Christianity in late afternoon of Phulpahadi, tribal Bahlulya village of Phulpahadi in Naxal-affected Shikaripada police station area of Dumka.
When its information reached Shikaripada police station, on Friday, Shikaripada police station reached Phulpahari and brought all the preachers, who were hosted with their propaganda vehicles, to the police station. Village Chief Ramesh Murmu of Phulpahari village gave his application in Shikaripara police station It is reported that on Thursday evening, all the religious campaigners had landed on a mini bus, about seven in the morning. On asking, he told that those people received orders from the top. Go to any village anytime and do your job.
Remarks: Shyam Marandi, who reached the police station with the villagers, said that the intention of these people was to change the religion at night which could not succeed. He said that missionaries started promoting Christianity by putting a mic in the middle of Phulpahadi village. During the campaign, the message was being circulated that the devil resides in the village which is in Jahan Than, Manjhi Than. Exclude his worship and adopt Christian religion.
On the other hand, accused campaigner Birendra Hembram admitted that they had come to the village with their entire team to campaign for religion. But Birendra also said that they were not trying to forcibly convert. Sadar police inspector Rampujan Singh said that all the 16 accused were registering the case and sending them to jail. These accused include 7 women and 9 men.
